Back to Reality: Restoring Truth in Policy as Gender Ideology Loses Its Grip
The Case for Fact-Based Legislation in the Face of an Ideology in Its Death Throes
A recent New York Times article, “Transgender Activists Question the Movement’s Confrontational Approach,” highlights calls for a strategic shift in messaging to counter diminishing public support. However, no approach to transgender activism is rational when the ideology’s foundation rests on denying biological reality. The transgender movement’s issue isn’t merely its confrontational tactics—it’s the flawed premise at its core. By weaponizing social construction theory, the movement advances a dangerous ideology that undermines material truths and erodes the sex-based rights of women and girls. For radical feminists, this deliberate misuse of social constructs demands immediate rejection.
Social construction theory recognizes that much of what society deems "natural" is shaped by cultural norms and collective agreement. However, material reality—like the biological differences between male and female—remains immutable. The transgender movement distorts this by attempting to socially reconstruct "sex" as "gender identity," creating an ideological framework that positions subjective feelings as equal to, or even above, biological fact. This redefinition isn’t progress; it’s patriarchy wearing a new disguise.
The language of gender ideology serves as a weapon. Terms like trans-women and trans-girls obscure material truths and distort public understanding. These terms attempt to smuggle male privilege into women’s spaces under the guise of inclusivity, undermining the very concept of female as a sex class. Radical feminism demands clarity and truth. A man does not become a woman by donning a dress or undergoing surgery, just as the language of "inclusion" does not erase the harm caused by denying biological sex.
Gender ideology is inherently regressive, reinforcing sex stereotypes that radical feminists have fought to dismantle. By asserting that a man who enjoys stereotypically feminine interests or behaviors must “be a woman,” it reduces womanhood to a caricature. This not only erases the experiences of women but also pressures gender nonconforming children—often LGB or autistic—into harmful medical interventions under the guise of affirmation. Radical feminism sees this for what it is: a continuation of patriarchal control, now wrapped in rainbow flags.
As William Sloane Coffin Jr. said, “Charity is a matter of personal attribute; justice is a matter of public policy.” Justice for women requires public policy rooted in truth, not the constructed fantasies of gender ideology. Policies that allow males into women’s sports, shelters, or prisons sacrifice the safety, dignity, and fairness of women and girls on the altar of male validation. This is not justice—it’s the patriarchal exploitation of women under the guise of liberation.
The transgender movement’s misuse of social construction theory attempts to frame its agenda as a civil rights issue. But this is not a fight for liberation—it’s a demand for accommodation at the expense of women and children. By co-opting language and redefining terms, it seeks to undermine the very protections that radical feminists have fought for. Public policy must reject these fabricated constructs and return to protecting the material reality of sex.
Radical feminism embraces social construction theory not to deny reality but to challenge and dismantle the oppressive systems that shape societal norms. It recognizes that while gender roles are constructed, sex is not. The fight for women’s rights has always been grounded in the reality of our biological differences and the oppression that stems from them. To deny this is to deny the foundation of women’s liberation.
The longer society indulges the fabricated concept of “transgenderism,” the more harm it will cause—eroding reality-based discourse, compromising protections for women, and distorting public policy. No definition of “trans” can exist without distorting truth and eroding women’s rights. Justice cannot be achieved by accommodating lies, even when disguised as kindness or inclusivity. Radical feminists reject these untruths and demand that justice for women and girls remains firmly rooted in material reality.
It’s time to dismantle the patriarchal constructs of gender ideology, rebuild policies that center sex-based rights, and reclaim the truth as the foundation for justice.
The storm is here, and radical feminism stands ready to #HoldTheLine.
If you're a woman seeking a feminist home that upholds and respects the sex-based rights of women and girls, consider connecting with radical feminist organizations in the United States that are dedicated to this mission: Women’s Declaration International USA (WDI USA), Women’s Liberation Front (WOLF), and Feminists In Struggle (FIST). These groups provide a space for women to unite in defense of our rights and to push for meaningful change.
