I recently set out to watch Margo’s Got Money Troubles because I think the Fanning sisters are adorable. I feel like I've watched them grow up through their movies and wanted to support Elle.
About halfway through the first episode, something told me to look up why I'd seen so many Gen Z girls urging people to watch the show. Lo and behold, the protagonist gets pregnant by her college professor, who wants nothing to do with raising the baby, and eventually turns to selling pornographic content to make ends meet.
Another story about a vulnerable young woman discovering that selling sexual access to herself is supposedly an empowering solution to her problems. I'm tired of seeing the normalization of pornography and prostitution dressed up as female empowerment.
