The Party of the People—Or the Party That Betrays Women?
Democrats Are Making Themselves Unelectable by Ignoring Women’s Rights
U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (GA) says the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act was "overreach," yet his office couldn't even spare the time to hear from a concerned constituent. I requested a meeting with Senator Ossoff to discuss why his support for this bill was not just a political necessity but a moral one. His office responded that he was “tied up in Senate business for most of the year” and couldn't meet. Apparently, being 'tied up in Senate business' meant ignoring 70% of Georgians and voting against protecting women's sports. If Ossoff isn't listening to his constituents, then who is influencing his decisions?
Payton McNabb: The Face of Democrats’ Betrayal of Women and Girls
Senator Ossoff and his fellow Democrats claim that banning male athletes from women’s sports is unnecessary—yet girls and women have already suffered real harm because of their refusal to act. Just ask Payton McNabb, who will be First Lady Melania Trump’s special guest at tonight’s Joint Session of Congress.
In 2022, Payton, a high school volleyball player in North Carolina, was knocked unconscious and left with partial paralysis after a male athlete spiked the ball at her. She lost her ability to play the sport she loved. Her school ignored her concerns. And even as she struggled with lifelong neurological damage, activists continued to claim that there was no issue to address.
McNabb has since become a leading advocate for protecting women’s sports. Without her testimony, North Carolina’s Fairness in Women’s Sports Act might not have passed in 2023. Yet Democrats like Ossoff expect women like Payton to suffer in silence to appease radical gender activists.
Democrats Are Ignoring the People Who Vote for Them
A New York Times/Ipsos poll found that 79% of Americans believe male athletes should not compete in women’s sports. Even among Democrats, 67% agree with this position. Despite this overwhelming consensus, Ossoff and every other Senate Democrat (except for one who abstained) blocked a bill that simply sought to codify into law what most people—regardless of party—already believe.
This is not a fringe issue. It is common sense. Women and girls should not be forced to compete against male athletes, especially when we have spent decades fighting for equal opportunities under Title IX.
Whose Interests Are Democrats Serving?
Democrats like Ossoff would have us believe that opposing men in women's sports is some kind of “manufactured culture war.” But they fail to answer a fundamental question: If this is a non-issue, why are women losing their scholarships, races, and records to male athletes?
Payton McNabb is not a hypothetical. She is not a political prop. She is a young woman whose life was permanently altered because male athletes were allowed to compete in female sports. If Democrats truly stood for women’s rights, they would be listening to voices like hers. Instead, they ignore her and others like her while pretending this issue doesn’t exist.
It’s telling that Democrats are more concerned with appeasing fringe activist groups than standing up for their core voter base. Georgia mothers who have supported Ossoff and Warnock want their daughters to have the same opportunities as generations before them. Instead, they’re watching their senators sell them out to lobbyists and donors who prioritize ideological purity over real people.
The Political Fallout: Can Democrats Afford to Keep Ignoring Women?
If this vote tells us anything, it’s that Democrats are willingly making themselves unelectable. The party’s leadership has ignored warning signs from the last election, where Trump's platform capitalized on voter frustration over issues like border security and the erosion of women’s rights under gender ideology.
Governor Brian Kemp wasted no time in calling out Ossoff’s betrayal, saying:
"Men should not play in women’s sports. The people of Georgia know that and our senators should too."
Lt. Gov. Burt Jones went further, stating that the Georgia Legislature would "fix it with Senate Bill 1—and fix one of our senators next November."
The message from Georgia’s leadership is clear: If Democrats refuse to represent their constituents’ interests, voters will elect leaders who will.
It’s Not Over
Ossoff and his Democratic colleagues may have blocked this bill—for now. But this fight isn’t going away. Every common-sense voter who sees girls and women lose championships, scholarships, or places on the podium to a male athlete will remember what happened here.
Women’s sports belong to women. The Democratic Party used to believe in that. By siding with activists over voters, Senate Democrats risk alienating the very people who put them in office. If they keep ignoring public opinion, it will continue to cost them at the ballot box.
If you're a Democrat who believes in women’s rights, fairness in sports, and protecting children, you're not alone. Democrats for an Informed Approach to Gender (DIAG) is fighting to hold Democratic lawmakers accountable and advocate for reality-based policies that uphold sex-based protections. Likewise, the Democratic Women’s Declaration affirms the urgent need to recognize sex-based rights in law and policy—Democratic women are encouraged to “Sign Today for Tomorrow’s Future.”
🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯 Thank you! Also, though I know we have all tried repeatedly to get the Democrats to abandon their suicide mission, here’s one more thing to try: https://roarwomennyc.com/2025/03/10/call-to-action-tell-your-us-democratic-senators-to-meet-with-the-womens-sports-policy-working-group-asap/ I hope you’ll consider it!
People on Facebook are already attacking McNabb and in fact the entire volleyball team for apparently being terrible, lying that the player that spiked the ball is trans, etc. I have never seen such nastiness as I have seen from the trans movement and their supporters.
